Ma facciamo un passo indietro. Reservoir, uscito nel 2009, si fa notare perchè ricco di buoni spunti, di ottime sonorità ma forse soprattutto perchè ricorda da molto molto vicino gli Arcade Fire. I suoni acustici, la magnificenza di alcuni passaggi, le progressioni armoniche, c'era veramente molto degli Arcade Fire in quel primo lavoro. E visto che assomigliare a qualcuno è piacevole ma limitante era inevitabile che i Fanfarlo (sarà anche ispirato a Baudelaire ma è un nome orribile, perlomeno in italiano) cercassero di smarcarsi dai paragoni con la band canadese
Rooms Filled With Light segue quindi percorsi meno scontati e più personali, enfatizzando il lato intimista della band a discapito dell'inno da stadio o del pezzo più energico e immediato. Il compito riesce a metà: i Fanfarlo prendono si le distanze dagli Arcade Fire ma non riescono a costruire un suono che permetta di distinguerli senza dubbi nella giungla del mondo indie. Questo è un buon disco, pieno di buone qualità, ma non ha nulla che gli permetta di staccarsi dalla massa.
Rooms Filled With Light lo si ascolta con piacere, anche più volte, ma non sfonda mai. Peccato: The Walls Are Coming Down.

The history of Fanfarlo began in 2006 but Rooms Filled With Light, their second album, arrives in stores only now, 3 years after Reservoir. A sign of a creative streak a little 'dry for this talented half swedish band. Reservoir, released in 2009, is notable because it is rich of good ideas, excellent sound, but perhaps mostly because it resembles very very close, the Arcade Fire. The acoustic sounds, the magnificence of some passages, the harmonic progressions, there really was a lot of Arcade Fire in that first job. And since looking like someone is nice but it is limiting Fanfarlo tried to distance themselves from comparisons with the Canadian band. Rooms Filled With Light then follows paths less obvious and more personal, emphasizing the intimate side of the band at the expense of the stadium anthems, losing something in energy and immediacy. The task fails halfway: Fanfarlo take distance from the Arcade Fire, but they can not build a sound that can distinguish them in the jungle of indie music. This is a good album, full of good qualities, but it has nothing that allows it to break away from the crowd. I listende to Rooms Filled With Light with pleasure, even several times, but nothing more: The Walls Are Coming Down.
